Mariemont Players Announces Auditions For God's Man in Texas

Director Jef Brown will hold auditions for the Mariemont Players production of God’s Man in Texas, a drama by David Rambo, at the Walton Creek Theater, 4101 Walton Creek Road (just east of Mariemont) at 7:00pm on Monday, August 18th and at 7:00pm on Wednesday, August 20th, 2008.

Faith and egos collide in the age of mass-market religion. A search committee has been formed to find a successor to legendary pastor, Philip Gottachall, a vigorous marvel and master strategist both in and out of the pulpit. As contender Jeremiah Mears gains a foothold, Gottachall's grip on his pulpit becomes as firm as his faith. The pastor's sound man -- and sounding board -- is Hugo Taney, a reformed wreck of a soul. The Biblical struggle among this trinity of men climaxes during the annual electrical Christmas parade; there is a sacrifice, a resurrection, and, finally, salvation as God whispers to a listening heart.

Cast requirements are: 3 men, 30s to 80s in age. Auditionees will be asked to read from the script.

The production will be staged November 7th through November 23rd, 2008.
