Is He Dead? Cast Announced

MARIEMONT (OH) - Mariemont Players, Inc. announces the cast for the first production of its 2019-2020 season, Is He Dead? Michele Mascari makes her MPI directorial debut with the comedy by Mark Twain adapted by David Ives.

The cast includes:
Nick Young - Francois Millet/Daisy Tillou 
Ryan Bowron - Chicago
Jimmy Jackson – O’Shaugnessy 
Darren Lee - Dutchy
Katie Jensen - Marie
Cat Cook - Cecile/Lefaux
Roscoe Mlinek - Papa Leroux
Petrina Barresi - Mme. Bathilde
Tara Pettit - Mme. Caron
Ray Lebowski - Andre Bastien
Danny Davies - Charlie, Basil, Claude, King of France, policeman

The (silent) roles of the Sultan of Turkey and the Emperor of Russia will be played by a series of special guests who will vary through the run.

image BLet The Sunshine In - New Windows

Due to a generous bequest from Bob Naugle - former MPI actor and Board treasurer who passed away last fall, eight new double pane windows have been installed in our beloved building. Four windows replaced the original old windows in light alley, the back stairs and the two side windows in the front bell tower lobby. But most exciting, we replaced four original windows on the front and rear stairs that have been covered with plywood on the outside and on the inside by drywall and paneling since any of us can remember. What a difference! Steve Farley and I made new sills for the front stairs, Steve repaired and replaced the coved plaster around them, then he and Kim Woods painted.

On the landing leading down to the basement, we stripped off all the old 60’s paneling, Steve replastered the walls, we made baseboard to match the original, retrimmed the doorways, and Steve and Kim painted it all. They finished it off  with carpet squares left over from the auditorium remodel.

Norma PhotoThe entire MPI community was saddened to hear of the passing of Norma Niinemets on March 16, 2019. A longtime board member, actor, director, producer, and all-around champion of the theater, Norma's dedication to MPI and its mission inspired us all. For decades, Norma contributed her immense passion and intelligence to improve the theater, and all of us who had the privilege to serve with her were better for it. Norma was a true leader, and influenced generations of artists and board members at MPI. Her positive impact on the theater will be felt for years to come. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the entire Niinemets family. We were lucky to have you, Norma. You will be missed.
